dōTERRA Yoga Oils

It has been a few years since we first started using the Yoga Oils to enhance our yoga practices. The grounding scent of Anchor, the uplifting vibes of Arise, and the centering properties of Align are all incredibly useful depending on the day.

Our all-time favorite of the three is ANCHOR. It is the sweetest, most calming scent we have ever smelled. So we’ll start by describing Anchor and ideas for how to use it. Anchor’s blissful sent comes from a blend of Lavender, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Cinnamon, Frankincense, Black Pepper, and Patchouli in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil. The earthy, woody, and rich aroma can help you feel grounded and connected to the Earth. When you have a big decision or a challenge in your life, apply a couple drops of ANCHOR to your heart to feel stable enough to move forward. It’s also great to apply to your ankles, base of your spine, and bottom of your feet to feel complete and calm. We love to use this oil before meditating or practicing yoga.

Next up, ARISE. We’ve usually relied on this oil when we’re trying to get ourselves out of the house to go to, or teach, an early morning yoga class. Its joyful and encouraging aroma wakes us right up, and truly makes a great start to the day. Arise has a happy and inspiring vibe and includes Grapefruit, Lemon, Osmanthus, and Siberian Fir essential oils also held in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil. Besides using it to wake yourself up, this is a great oil to use in the beginning of the day over your heart as you say encouraging and kind things to yourself. It is such a great oil to smell right when you wake up, especially if you are feeling groggy and need encouragement to get going (try using it as a replacement for your morning cup of coffee). The optimal yoga poses that Arise can support are anything that involves standing or balancing.

And, lastly, we have ALIGN. When you’re feeling disconnected or out of balance, diffuse or apply Align. It is made from a blend of Peppermint, Basil, Geranium, and Jasmine Flower which, when combined, makes a fresh, green, and herbal scent. In Katonah Yoga®, one of the universal principles is that throughout nature there are polarities, which we have the great pleasure of mediating. When you’re feeling particularly out of balance, too hot or too cold, too with the grain or too against the grain, too airy or too weighed down, too serious or too uncommitted, use Align to aid you in your mediation. This oil has a way of bringing you into the center of your circumstances. Therefore, any of the Warrior Poses or Triangle Pose are great poses to practice with Align.
